The government of Ireland has opened a new scholarship window aimed at making world-class education more accessible for international students. From January 29, 2026, applications are live for the Ireland scholarships for international students under the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship programme.
The initiative, backed by the Ireland government scholarships 2026 push, will award 60 fully funded scholarships to top candidates pursuing postgraduate education. Each selected student will receive a stipend of €10,000 for one academic year and participating Irish universities will provide a complete tuition fee waiver for that period.
Scholarships are available for full time Master’s, postgraduate diploma and PhD programmes at eligible institutions across Ireland. Applicants must be domiciled outside the European Union, European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland and must hold either a conditional or confirmed offer from a recognised Irish higher education institution at the time of application. The application window closes on March 12, 2026.
Applications should be made by the candidates via the official scholarship portal before the deadline.The selection will be based on the competence, through academic attainment, communication skills, strength of personal statement and references of the applicant. Results are expected to be announced in early June 2026.
